World-Class Text Banking

Short Message Service (SMS) or text messaging is the most popular communication vehicle in the world. Over 6.9 trillion text messages were exchanged worldwide in 2010, and SMS traffic is expected to exceed 11.6 trillion by 2015, a compounded annual growth rate of nearly 11 percent. There are over 173 billion text messages sent each month in the United States alone—roughly 240 million per hour—and the typical U.S. mobile subscriber sends and receives more text messages than he does mobile phone calls.

Clairmail was the first vendor to recognize that SMS is vital to mobile banking. As such, text banking has been a key part of the Clairmail solution from its very first release. Subsequent releases of the Clairmail solution have extended the company's lead in this area with technologies to manage scalability, deal with disparate SMS aggregator capabilities and add state management so that the SMS channel can be used as a vehicle for Clairmail alerts.

Today, the Clairmail solution includes a comprehensive suite of mobile banking and payment SMS commands to retrieve account information and initiate transactions – including the ability to obtain account balances, transfer funds, view transaction history, pay bills and locate branches or ATMs. Additionally, text banking is utilized as one of the delivery channel for Clairmail's actionable, smart and cross-modal alerting capabilities.
